I’m quite sure you’ve walked into a store at some point, and I mean any store really, and a kind and conscientious sales person has greeted you with a ‘Welcome to the Haberdashery! May I help you?’ Now some people may find this annoying when, in reality, the person delivering the message is just doing their job, sometimes mechanically and sometimes with conviction, but in any event it’s what they’ve got to do to make a buck. Sometimes you get lucky! The stores associates are busy folding shirts, flirting or even helping a customer so you get to slide on by and look for whatever it is you’re looking for. Either way, you’re in the store and, as a consumer, your contribution to a nations economy is well on its way!
But what if you’re the storekeeper? What if that forlorn consumer crossing the threshold of your domain is the very person that determines whether or not it’s steak or hamburger at dinner tonight? Well, you can bet your last dollar that that sales associate better greet Mr. Customer with polite hello and a firm ‘How can I help you find what it is you want to buy today?’ message! That’s pretty much the basic responsibility of us business owners. Find out what the customer is looking for and helping them find a way to take it home with them. After leaving a little behind for dinner of course!
Now consider your business’ Facebook page! Is your page offering assistance with a polite hello and a firm sales message? Are you guiding your potential meal ticket through the aisles of your social media outlet? If not, you’re really missing boat! As consumers, we can be predictably fickle. But when we’re ready to get our hands on the goods and have decided to part with some greenbacks to do so, please, please, please make it easy to do so! Give me a link! Give me a button to click on! And it better work too, or I’m outta here! And if you do I’ll buy dinner!
